I would start taking them now if your doctor says it will help with the bleeding and to regulate you. If you are having unprotected sex and do not want to get pregnant than it is even more important that you go ahead and start the pills but this bleeding is absolutely not normal and so stay in contact with your doctor and let him know what is going on ...maybe get some blood work done, ultrasound to rule out other possible problems. good luck
